Korean Utensils

When eating Korean food, the most common set of utensils used are the spoon and chopsticks. In Korean, they are referred to as 'sujeo' which is a mashup of the Korean word for spoon (sutgarak) and chopsticks (jeotgarak). As Korean-Americans, we have both western style spoons and Korean spoons in our household, but we only use the western style spoons when all the Korean spoons are in the dishwasher*. Korean spoons have a longer handle, a flatter and wider bowl, and tend to be very lightweight. Personally, I feel like the length provides better control and the flatter bowl delivers a more uniform bite vs. a spoon with a deep bowl.

*Yes, we use the dishwasher for its intended purpose, not as a rack for drying hand washed dishes. We understand that this takes away from our Korean credibility.
